Yes one month from today I will be rolling into my home town - or I should say flying. Sure hope I find my apartment keys before then...they've gone MIA and I can't find them anywhere....sigh.....
I'm going into my sixth month of being on the road and heading into the final stretch.
How many beds have I slept in? Let's see... when I last wrote I was at the Pension Kraml in Vienna, then I stayed with my friend in Heiligenstadt, Germany then we stayed at the Hotel Salvator (highly recommended) in Prague then back to Germany. I then flew back to London and stayed with Claudia again in Streatham Common. I then flew to Dublin and stayed at an airbnb in Dun Laoghaire and then another airbnb in Belfast. Both airbnb hosts were lovely ladies but I didn't like staying in a place with multiple (up to 8) people and only one toilet. Now I am staying in a room in an apartment in Limehouse, East London. So guess that makes seven.
Best experience? Probably the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland - the weather was incredible and it was such a thrill to see a place I've been wanting to see for a long time...
Best meal? Probably the beef dish in Prague that I had...beef with cream and cranberries....one of those meals I could have eaten all over again....then again there were those fish and chips in Howth, Ireland.
Regrets? Still not keeping a proper journal. Not blogging as much as I wanted to but I must say it's been a challenge...finding the time but also blogger has been difficult...it has to be this tablet. And yesterday I had a post ready to publish...I was proof reading and decided to remove something I had just added...hit the undo button and the whole post disappeared!! I could have cried as these posts take a while to write. There is still so much to talk about....
I must confess I am getting a bit tired and I am happy to be in London until I start heading home on June 4th. I am still seeing new things every day but I don't have to learn a new transport system and I must say I do know London pretty well now so there is a comfort in familiarity. While I am anxious to see friends and family again, sleep in my own bed, do some actual cooking and just spend time in the cute little apartment I absolutely adore I know once the novelty is over I will miss this lovely life I've had for the past five months....
Up next? Exploring London and area (I have a list of things I must discover/revisit beorfre I leave)...discovering new places and seeing old ones...all in its Spring glory....seeing four rock concerts....Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney and the Beach Boys....all in ten days in late May....having a four night stopover in Iceland on my way home and seeing my sister and niece in Ontario for three nights before winging my way west.
My next catch up review will be from home from my computer...if it hasn't decided it really liked its six month vacation and wants to make it permanent.....stay tuned!!!
