Our last day in Wales we decided to go up the Great Orme. We had such a beautiful day for it.
What is the Great Orme you might ask? It is a limestone headland on the North coast of Wales, just North West of Llandudno. The name Orme (Y Gogarth in Welsh) comes from the Old Norse word for Sea Serpent.
It stands at 679 feet and there are four ways to ascend it: by on foot (no thank you), car, tramway or cable car. We opted to take the tram up and back. It was just a short walk from the centre of town to the tram station.
The photo above was taken as we ascended over Llandudno.
Halfway up we had to get off the tram and get on another one to ascend to the summit.
The views going up weren't too bad!!
Once up there we wandered around and I took scads of photos. I mean, how could you not?
It was very windy up there!
The Great Orme even has a cemetery but we never got down that far as neither of us was feeling 100% that day.
Signs in Wales have both the Welsh and English language - the Welsh always on top.
Above is a statue of a Kashmir goat. The Great Orme is home to about 200 of these goats. They have been here since the mid 19th century; they are descended from a pair of goats presented by the Shah of Persia to Queen Victoria shortly after her coronation in 1837. Sadly, we never saw any. One of these goats is selected to be a "Lance Corporal" in the Royal Welsh, a large regiment in the British Army.
After an hour or so it was time to head back down to Llandudno.
What a beautiful morning!

Here is some of the gorse on the way up - so beautiful against the blue sky and blue sea.

There was a shop, cafe and restaurant in the buildings above.
