A walk to where it all began for Canada's National Parks...

One of our group walks at the CVF convention was a 6 or 10 km walk to Banff Cave and Basin.  This is where it all began.  The hot springs were discovered back in 1883 and Banff became a National Park (the oldest one in Canada) in 1887.  Due to having to attend a meeting that afternoon (boo!)  I opted for the 6 km walk.  What can I say...another beauty of a walk.  There isn't such a thing as "ugly" in Banff - well unless you count (and I do) the construction sites of McMansions in the area.  So off on another walk....on another stunningly beautiful day. No time to shop during a group walk - and no time to go back and snoop around in here either! This was on the side of the building above. A walk around Stanley Park's seawall

One of the activities I MUST do on my all too infrequent trips to Vancouver is walk around the seawall in Stanley Park.   Preferably involving some greasy fish and chips - either during or after the walk!  Stanley Park is an absolute gem although I must confess I haven't explored the inner park as much as I really should as the seawall calls me.  The park itself is marvelous -a beautiful  rainforest of majestic trees, ocean, beaches, totem poles.....one of my favourite places to be anywhere.   After our visit to the market we took another little ferry over to the dock in the West End and proceeded to go for a long walk with a sit down for the picnic we picked up at Granville Market.. So put on some comfy shoes and come along for a long walk with us...poor Julie I really put her through her paces that weekend but she was a real trooper.  Beautiful beach along English Bay in Vancouver's West End Inukshuk along the beach Laughing men in the West End

Is this how normal people live?

Well I am back from my long weekend in the U.S. which turned out to be a day longer than planned...it was absolutely fabulous and I will be telling stories about it  all summer along with the fun I got up to in Vancouver and Banff - yep still have stories to shaer!   It's hard to blog with an iphone!  I decided to limit my online time - not quite a "digital detox" but as close as I get!  (yes, I am an addict) No trips planned - big ideas and possibilities floating around but no flights booked...what a strange way to live.  Is this the way normal people live?  Definitely things will be happening soon - BIG things - so will let everyone know when I click that "book" (always a delicious feeling) button on the airline booking site.  In the meantime keep checking back to go on some more walks and adventures with me!!!
