I forgot to mention in my last post that while we were sailing in the Trollfjord free fish soup was served as well as an option to buy the special Trollfjord drink which was a mixture of tea and rum. Yes, please!! I scuttled away to a quiet corner away from everybody and enjoyed my little feast.
The morning dawned sunny and bright...our last for a while it turned out.
I have to say the bridges in Norway are very impressive.
Our big stop for the day was in Tromso for four hours. The white building is the Arctic Cathedral. I would have loved to walk over that bridge (you know how I love walking bridges) to see the cathedral up close but I knew I didn't have the stamina or time to do it.
Tromso has a population of around 65,000 and boasts the most northern university in the world.
I can't believe they have to put a sign like this but then I remember...humans...
I think this otter has had a bit too much to drink.
Tromso is another place I'd return to if I had the chance.
Trolls are all over the place in Norway...and Iceland...and the rest of Scandinavia.
This is the back view!
This sculpture is in memory of the hunters and fishermen lost at sea. It was created by artist Sivert Donaldi and erected in 1984. The seagull is an optional extra but perfect timing!
Look at that library!!!
I got myself a really good ice cream with chocolate dusting and chocolate sprinkles. The ice cream was heaven for my sore throat. It was nice to take a break and sit down.
This is another Anthony Gormley sculpture. They are all over the place!
And on that note..time to head back to the ship. The clouds are rolling in....
