This morning although I still tested positive for covid the line was much lighter and I knew that a week after I tested positive I wouldn't be contagious. Today was the big day that (very expensive) excursions went to the North Cape. Originally I had been planning to go but even though I was starting to feel better my fatigue was the main issue. Anyone who has had covid can probably relate to this..it took me a while to get over the fatigue. The tour was really expensive and the weather really wasn't very nice either and I just didn't think I'd get my money's worth in enjoyment from it. It still was a great disappointment but you can't do it all. The North Cape is the northernmost point in Europe. Here is a link to what it's all about.
Havoysund was just a fifteen-minute stop to unload and load goods.
A couple of hours later we docked at Honningsvag (population around 2600) for three and a half hours. There weren't too many of us wandering the town as most of the passengers went on the North Cape tour. (sob!)
My first stop was to a Christmas shop just off the harbour. I bought a gift or two.
This artwork created by school children was made of items that had been thrown out.
Here's a troll just in case you missed seeing one!! This one was particularly hideous. (you're welcome)
Ordinary houses on an ordinary street - just to keep it real.
This is Honningsvag church which was consecrated in 1885.
I love colourful houses.
On my way back I passed the church again and had a wonderful treat.
There was a confirmation service at the church and Norwegians wear their national costume at functions like this.
These were parents of a confirmation candidate. So cool!!
It was time to get back to my cozy little cabin and rest because I decided it was time to sit down and enjoy an evening meal at my assigned table.
