Restless Prairie Girl

Well the Nutcracker was pure magic as well as the Viennese Christmas last night. Really had myself an enjoyable day. Another cold day here - supposedly the coldest start to winter in Britain for 30 years. And I am not dressed for it. Bought a set of long underwear today - I had some with me but well when you wear them most days you need more than one set!!! It's only about 0C but it's a damp cold and I only have a Goretex jacket and a couple of fleece things. Okay it's not Saskatchewan but at least I had my heavy winter jacket there!!!! Off to the Thames and fireworks tonight. Our hotel did not have hot water this morning so I could not take a shower. yuck. So hopefully when I go back I can have one - as good as you can get it when it trickles out. Four more sleeps and I go to my beloved B & B in North London and I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Anyway we are taking a pub walk at 7 and then going to the Thames to see the Fireworks and probably won't get back until abou...

Well here I am finally - trying to find internet access over Xmas in London is impossible. By the time I plowed through my email not much time for my blog as time is a wasting. I made it over in one piece despite a crappy meal on North West and the seat back entertainment not working. Our hotel is a hovel - the second worst one I've stayed in in London. On the bright side it's cleaned every day and no bed bugs!! I keep thinking I am going to fall through the floor as it makes creaking sounds and goes down in places. One light in the room and that's it and let's not talk about the showers and bathrooms.....however being New Years it's almost impossible to find another place...luckily on Sunday I will be outta here and back at my familiar and good B & B in north London. Back from Paris last night which I will report on later - it was fabulous and our hotel there was wonderful. Off to the ballet this afternoon and to a Xmas concert tonight - with some Xmas sa...

Well things are getting exciting now...one more sleep to go. I booked my taxi to the airport in the morning....well I think I did.....after being on hold forever this lady answers "Glen is that you" ..uh....no. "Oh oops" she says "this is the taxi company". No kidding! So I asked to be picked up at 4:45 a.m. (shudder..) and gave her my info and she cheerfully told me to call in the morning to double check that they will pick me up. Um....I thought booking a taxi meant I didn't have to call in before....oh well should be interesting. But I have two people on standby in case the stupid taxi doesn't turn up. Hopefully this time tomorrow I will be sitting in the North West jet in Minneapolis waiting for take off. I damn well better be!!! :)
