Stalking Shaun the Sheep - Part 1

I can hear it already..."she hasn't even told us about Europe yet and she's blogging about stalking a sheep"?  Yep, deal with it!!!  There are 50 sculptures of Shaun the Sheep, a popular cartoon character over here - they are all over London until the end of May. They will be auctioned off later this year to raise money for sick children in hospitals across the UK.   I only saw a quarter of them and the goal is at least half... So here we go....the first one I saw was just inside the entrance to The Shard (tallest building in London)...named Rainbow....I will put their names and locations under the picture...enjoy!!!  Up next was Globe trotter on the banks of the Thames near Tower Bridge....I felt a kinship with this one for some reason!!!   And saw some more along the Thames......you won't see the ones I thought were a bit boring! The Easter fountains of Heiligenstadt, Germany

One of the traditions in Upper Franconia in Northern Bavaria is decorating their town fountains for Easter.  My friend Claudia had told me about the tradition and I had hoped someday I would get to see them...well I arrived a few days after Easter and sure enough, the decorations were still up. I found it so charming - these eggs are all decorated by the locals. So here are some photos I took...by the way these are all real egg shells (some of the other nearby towns use plastic eggs.) .......hope you enjoy them as much as I did! .  Fountain in the main square Smaller fountain just outside the village The local castle! They seem to like penguins and ladybugs...and sheep!!

Back in the UK

I'm back in the UK! You don't know how lucky you are (girl), back in the UK, back in the UK....can you tell I am happy?  My spirits lifted the second the plane landed....  I am here in the UK until I start heading home on June 4th...with the exception of five nights in Dublin next week...I have a "to do" list a mile long.  Spring has sprung here...and I am loving it.  Today I stalked the "Shaun the Sheep" sculptures around London.  It is a popular cartoon character here and these sculptures will be auctioned off to raise money for children's hospitals.  I am pursuing this critter with the same enthusiasm I chased Paddington back in December.  I guess I am just a big kid at heart.  Lots of plans for the next few days if the weather isn't too dire.  Rain is predicted for the weekend but I am hoping it's just showers as I want to head out on the Thames path again tomorrow and on Sunday view the London marathon's participants a...

Oh Prague, you are a pretty one!

So now I'm in Prague!  I am just bouncing all over the place aren't I?   My friend Claudia and I took a bus, a train, a train and a bus from her home in northern Bavaria and arrived yesterday afternoon around 3:30.  We found our way to our hotel which is in a great location and has everything we need. Last night we had a snoop around this side of the river and a meal by the Vltava (try pronouncing that!) river.  I ordered veggies as I wanted them soooo badly....we then wandered back through the old town square.  Today we set out for the Jewish quarter and then crossed to the other side of the river via the Charles bridge.  I am tired (and on my second glass of wine) so I will just post photos of our jaunt around town...let's just say we are both tired and sore!!!  It was a great day...lots more exploring to do and pictures to share.  Thought this was a pretty neat statue; wonder what it means?  View across the river towa...
